The Sensex closed 1,092.06 points or 1.44% lower at 74,775.74, and the Nifty fell 359.40 points or 1.5% lower at 23,547.75. About 1,568 shares advanced, 2,507 shares declined, and 184 shares were unchanged. Sensex fell 1,450 points from day's high while Nifty closed trading near 23,550-mark.
